About Watch Value
Watch Value helps you work out what a pre-owned luxury watch is really worth, and find a genuine one on eBay at a fair price, without trawling through thousands of listings.
How it works
- We search eBay every day in the UK and US (and Germany, Australia and Canada when you ask) for 341 watch references and models from 27 brands, using eBay's official Browse API, in the wristwatch category only.
- We keep complete, genuine watches only. A listing must name the brand and match the reference (or the model, on our "other references" pages). We remove straps, bezels, dials and other parts, homages and "style" watches, replicas, custom and aftermarket watches, and watches sold for parts or needing repair. Anything priced below what a genuine complete watch of that brand could cost is dropped too, which catches boxes and papers sold on their own. A listing that names two different references (a lot or a comparison) is left out.
- We read each title for box and papers (full set, box only, papers only or watch only), unworn, serviced, warranty left, year, case size, material, dial colour and bracelet or strap, and note eBay's Authenticity Guarantee and whether the seller is a business.
- We work out a typical price for each reference in each condition: unworn, pre-owned full set, pre-owned with box or papers, and pre-owned watch only. It's the median Buy It Now price including postage, once there are at least 3 listings. Conditions are never mixed, and auction bids aren't counted.
- We score every Buy It Now watch against that typical price, flag sellers with little or poor feedback, and warn about watches priced 35% or more below typical, which is where fakes and scams sit.
- We record prices daily to build a price history for each reference.
What our prices are, and aren't
Our figures are asking prices from live listings, not sold prices, so a watch can sell for less. Box and papers, years and dial colours are read from titles automatically, and sellers don't always mention them. Always read the listing, look at the photos and ask the seller before you buy. Retail prices (RRP) are approximate UK list prices and change every year.

How we make money
We're an eBay Partner Network affiliate. If you click through to eBay and buy something, eBay may pay us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra and never changes which listings we show or how we score them.
Rolex, Omega, Tudor, Cartier and every other brand, model and reference name belong to their owners. We're independent and not connected to, authorised by or endorsed by any watch brand or retailer.
